UNSTAGED A wedding is a story on its own, that doesnt need a photographers intervention or judgment. So i dont interfere with the way a weddingday evolves, i just document it. All of it, regardless of the emotions that are felt; the good, the bad, the boring, the crazy. Because emotion is what elevates a simple action into a moment, two arms a into a hug, rolling eyes into annoyance. Only by photographing all of these moments can i capture the entire and real story of your day.
LAYERED
Layered images are nuanced, they dont show one subject which they glorify by blurring the surroundings. Everything is in focus, so looking at the layers you will detect different substories to your wedding. Who was nervous? Who was happy? Who was hungry? Layered images show us our reality, our chaos, both the action and the reaction of those that matter to us. Layered images are not always perfect, but they are above all real.
EXPERIMENTAL Since there is no textbook guide to creativity, i have to experiment to stay creative. During every wedding I try new things. Its kind of hard to define what those things will be, since that undermines the whole idea of being creative. Who knows what techniques, gestures or expressions i will be influenced by. These experiments can lead to capturing imperfections that sometimes aren’t that imperfect at all. They might just make you remember how you felt at your wedding. After all the technicalities behind an image have been discussed, what it all comes down to is a simple question. Do you like an image or not? Does it grab your attention? Can it intrigue you? Is it able to make you relive a certain moment?
